The Screwed Up Hand

Oh, the many uses of a flat head screwdriver. One could think of so many things to do with it. But I will warn you. Be very cautious as you pick up the small item to turn, pry or poke whatever it is you think it may be useful for. For lurking behind that unassuming exterior lies a more devious, may I even suggest, more deadly side to the most basic of tools found in every toolbox. Okay, deadly may be a bit strong but you get my point...

What may start out as a routine fixer-upper-I'll-get-the-job-done-and-use-my-handy-dandy-screwdriver job may land you with a trip to the ER and a hand that looks like this......

Looks like a fairly small puncture wound on this side but the thing almost went through his whole hand. This side stopped bleeding fairly quickly....
But all the blood pooled up on the backside of his hand causing the majority of the concern. These photos were taken after his arm was in the splint for 5 days. We have had great news from the doctors...he couldn't have aimed any better. Missed every bone, ligament, and nerve apparently. We are singing praises to the Lord and thankful for His mercy in watching over Scot.

We have seemed to be able to keep infection at bay and we are waiting for a follow up visit with the hand specialist this Thursday. We are praying for more good news like...you can go back to work now...

Outdoor Fun

I'm so happy it's finally warming up. The kids love to play outside and it helps burn off some of their energy. It is fun to see Matt discovering the out of doors. He gets so excited and happy about everything he sees and zooms off to find something new to be excited about.
Aubree is definitely an outdoor girl. She had her first fall out of the tree in our backyard (don't worry she was only about a foot and a half off the ground). The landing wasn't so bad but she scraped her belly on the tree bark on the way down. That stung a bit. When her Dad came home from work he did a little yard work and branch trimming and she stayed out with him the whole time as his helper.

On My Mind

I am going to do something yet unseen on our family blog.....and actually do just what a blog's intended for. Write...my very own personal thoughts. Why? you might ask. I've been looking around at other people's and find I enjoy it.
I love being inspired. That great feeling that makes you want to do or be something you otherwise didn't have the idea or energy to do. I find I'm very inspired by photos. It is AMAZING what can be captured and displayed so appealingly in a small rectangular confined space. THANK YOU to all of you out there who have the visual creativity to understand how to capture all those lovely sights I do so enjoy.
I'm a bit of a country vintage girl at heart and while I don't currently collect anything, there is one very appealing weakness and interest I have that could become a hobby/collection of some sort. I love aprons. Yes, you heard it right....aprons. They seem to float my boat and beckon me to wear and own . It could be because my grandma always wears an apron. In fact she made my first apron for me at my request - love that grandma! I stumbled across this book and author and am so excited for some new found inspiration. I am compelled to make my own apron now but have a small setback. My sewing machine isn't working right - something is wrong with the bobbin stitching. My husband told me tonight he's pretty sure he can fix it (giggle). That makes me nervous because there is a story about that in my family. My mother once had a sewing machine. As machines do, it stopped working properly. My dad decided he could fix it. The operation began....the sewing machine was torn apart. So the story goes, I don't think it ever made it back together. I really don't want to repeat history here.

Easter 2008

Coloring Eggs

Finding eggs at Grandma's house.

Easter baskets from Mom & Dad. Matt was sick Easter Sunday so he stayed home from church. We ask Aubree, what is Easter about? And she responds, "Jesus is Alive!"
