Photos from our Weekend Away

The happy couple.

This is from our first hotel. It had been remodeled and I liked the decorating. My favorite part was this blue chair. I wanted to take it with me.Yum, yum. You can't experience Frankenmuth without a chicken dinner from the Bavarian Inn. We had a coupon to upgrade to the Ultimate chicken dinner (which included 5 other meats) and we proceeded to feast ourselves on German delicousness.

Here was our lovely 2nd night hotel, the Marv Hervog. This view is from the other side of the river; I took it from Heritage Park.

The terrace off the lobby looking over the river.

This was an extremely large tree we came across next to the river in Heritage park. I felt it could give Hartwick Pines a run for it's money, although it isn't a pine.

10 Years Together

Scot and I celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary this weekend. We took a trip ALONE to Frankenmuth! In fact I'm writing from our hotel room on this our last night away. We are staying at the Marv Herzog Hotel on Main Street and it is wonderful. In fact our first night we stayed at the Fairfield Inn and had planned on both nights there but as we were walking down the street on Friday and saw the Marv with it's very cool balcony rooms and it's riverside views we had to check it out. We went back to our not-so-pleased-with hotel and looked up the Marv on our free wireless internet and saw it was awesome - placed a call (from the first warm & friendly phone call we KNEW we would love it) and booked a room! Our only disappointment is that we didn't spend both nights here. I'll put up pics after we get home.

Frankenmuth has been delightful and we went to see Steven Curtis Chapman tonight at Chesaning. It was very moving and inspiring to see him on stage performing with his two teenage sons in his band and hear him be so very open and vulnerable to the pain and sorrow he and his family are dealing with. This was only his second concert back since the tragic death of his youngest daughter. Yet testifying to God's goodness and faithfulness and proclaiming the gospel and hope that there is more to come....we are not home yet. He used his time to focus our attention on the mystery and sovereignty of God Almighty and the evidence of His love in Jesus. I am awed and humbled by he and his family's courage.

Tomorrow is our last day of freedom but we miss the kidlins and can't wait to give them hugs and kisses. It's funny how fondly you think on your babies when you're on vacation without them and you see cute munchkins all over the place....and how fondly you think of your time away when you're changing diapers!
